Overcoming challenges in the planning phase
After 18 months of meticulous planning and overcoming several significant obstacles, we at Suttons are proud to reflect on the successful completion of our factory extension. This important development has been key in expanding our production capacity and meeting rising customer demand.
The planning phase presented several logistical challenges we had to address before work began. One of the most complex hurdles involved removing over 1,000 cubic meters of earth to clear the area for the new structure. Additionally, a buried electricity cable required careful re-routing to ensure safety and avoid disruptions to our existing facility’s operations. With these challenges successfully managed, construction moved forward smoothly.
Key features of the new extension
Our new extension, seamlessly integrated into the side of the existing factor, was designed with efficiency and practicality in mind. The new space maintains the same floor level as our current factory, ensuring a smooth and uninterrupted flow between the two areas. This design provides an expansive, open-access manufacturing space of approximately 260 square metres, representing a substantial 15% increase in our production capacity.
Enhanced production capabilities
This additional space has allowed us to install extra conveyor lines, significantly boosting our ability to assemble products for our growing customer base. Investing in this extension has enhanced our operational capacity and positioned us to meet rising demand better.
Aesthetic considerations
While the new structure allows the standard design of a typical industrial building, we devoted considerable thought to its aesthetic appeal. The extension features a two-tone colour scheme that complements our existing main building. Additional design touches, such as enhanced soffit and gutter detailing, further improve the building’s visual appeal and maintain a professional, cohesive look across the site.
