Retention packaging is an excellent option if you need to safely ship low volumes of products with different sizes and irregular shapes.

Retention packaging is a type of packaging that uses a film to stop products from moving during shipping. The film, combined with a cardboard frame, is pulled tight to secure the item. Preventing the movement of the contents during shipping dramatically reduces damage caused by impact or mishandling.

As an eCommerce seller, the film also provides an excellent presentation of the contents upon your customers’ opening. Your customers can also simply place the full pack—both insert and outer box—into kerbside recycling bins.

How does it work?

Using suspension packaging

Retention packaging is simple, yet effective, offering you a quick and secure way to protect your products during shipping. With just a few steps, you can ensure your products are held firmly in place , reducing the risk of damage. To use retention packaging:

Step 1

Lie the retention packaging insert on your packaging bench or work surface.

Step 2

Lift the transparent film and place the products or items you are shipping underneath.

Step 3

Fold the flaps on the left and right-hand edges down, creating an arch and pulling the film tight.

Step 4

Place the folded retention insert into a pre-assembled outer cardboard shipping box.

Step 5

Seal the box using appropriate tape or closures, and ship.
