Packaging inventory management

If your business lacks storage space or is looking to reduce warehousing costs, a packaging inventory management service could benefit you.

A packaging inventory management service is where a packaging supplier stores and manages customers’ stocks of packaging. This involves maintaining pre-agreed minimum and maximum stock levels. Packing is delivered in smaller quantities on a just-in-time basis.

At Suttons Performance Packaging, our extensive warehouse, stock monitoring and forecasting systems, and a fleet of delivery vehicles allows us to manage packaging inventory for all our customers.

How it works

Our packaging inventory management works as follows:

Stock holding figures
We agree on a minimum and maximum stock holding figure with you for each packaging line your business purchases from us.
Warehouse storage
We manufacture your packaging and store it at our warehouse.
Call off
You call off the required amount of packaging (typically smaller batches to last a specific number of days) via phone or email.
Deliver your packaging
We deliver your packaging on the required date(s) to ensure you do not run out.
Stock replenishment
Our systems monitor when then stock approaches the lower threshold, at which point we manufacture more to replenish to agreed levels.
Repeat
The process repeats indefinitely.

Why switch to a managed packaging inventory?

Your business can expect numerous benefits when switching to a managed packaging inventory.

Firstly, it allows you to significantly reduce the storage requirements at your business. This can free up your warehouse or storage space for additional stock of products or components or increase the size of your production lines/manufacturing space. Alternatively, you can save the costs of the excess storage required.

Secondly, a managed inventory ensures you do not run out of packaging. Monitoring stock levels ensures that you always have adequate stock on site and in storage, consistently maintaining these levels.

Thirdly, the system can help identify trends and spikes in usage patterns, allowing production cycles and levels to be adjusted for future requirements.

Fourthly, the data generated in terms of usage can be used for Packaging Waste and EPR reporting.

And finally, it can significantly reduce the admin associated with stock takes, reordering and budget planning.
