Suttons Performance Packaging expands production capacity

At Suttons Performance Packaging, we’re excited to announce the addition of new state-of-the-art equipment at our production facility in Chatteris, Cambridgeshire. As part of our continued commitment to providing top-quality protective packaging solutions, we’ve invested a significant sum in the Fastweld automated foam bonding machine, which will significantly boost our manufacturing capacity.

The new equipment allows us to bond recycled polyethylene foam together with even greater efficiency and consistency. It improves the weld joins across the material surface, resulting in higher-quality products for our customers. The Fastweld machine’s introduction means we can meet growing demand while maintaining the high standards our customers expect from us.

Our managing director, Owen Sylvester, is please with the impact the new machine has had on our production.

We’ve received fantastic feedback from our customs, particularly regarding the improved output, reduced lead times, and overall quality of the products we’re delivering.”

Founded in 1962, Suttons Performance Packaging has built a reputation for providing bespoke protective packaging solutions to industries such as electronics, medical, technology, and specialist manufacturing. We are proud to serve businesses in the Cambridge science parks and surrounding areas, offering custom-design packaging solutions that combine foam with corrugated cardboard.

This investment is part of our ongoing efforts to improve both our manufacturing capacity and the quality of our products. It follows the expansion of our premises in 2017, when we added 3,000 sq. ft. of space, and the installation of new CNC routing and vertical saw equipment. Over the past decade, we’ve invested more than £250,000 into our facilities, ensuring that we continue to offer the best possible service to our clients.

In 2023, Suttons Performance Packaging became part of Macfarlane Group PLC, a company with over 1,000 employees across the UK and Europe. Despite this change, our focus on providing high-quality bespoke packaging solutions remains the same. We currently employ approximately 45 people at our production site, design studio, and offices in Chatteris.
