Suspension packaging is a type of packaging that protects products by containing them between 2 layers of film. When placed within an outer shipping box, the product being shipped is suspended in the middle of the pack. The surrounding void protects the product from damage during shipping.

Suspension packaging benefits

Suspension packaging protects fragile products and parts throughout the shipping cycle. It does this by suspending your product in the airspace of the shipping container between two layers of highly resilient low-slip film.

The design suspends your product away from impact, providing consistent protection for fragile products even after repeated drops. The tough and resilient suspension film retains its effectiveness, allowing for return shipments and multiple uses if required.

Suspension packaging also provides a unique and attractive appearance upon opening for end users, particularly for eCommerce applications. Your customers can easily recycle the entire pack, including the outer box, inserts, and film, in most UK kerbside recycling schemes.

How it works

Using suspension packaging is quick and easy when following these steps:

1. Put one-half of the suspension packaging (cardboard frame and film) into a pre-assembled outer box.
2. Put the product you are shipping in the centre of the film.
3. Place the other half of the suspension packaging over the product to contain it within the two films.
4. Close the outer box. Doing so creates tension in the films, retaining the product in place.
5. Seal the box and ship using your chosen courier/transport provider.
