Retention packaging

Retention packaging is an excellent option if you need to safely ship low volumes of products with different sizes and irregular shapes.

Retention packaging is a type of packaging that uses a film to stop products from moving during shipping. The film, combined with a cardboard frame, is pulled tight to secure the item. Preventing the movement of the contents during shipping dramatically reduces damage caused by impact or mishandling.

At Suttons Performance Packaging, we are a Sealed Air Approved Packaging Partner. This means we can supply you with the full range of retention and suspension packaging options. However, our team of packaging experts can provide impartial advice on the best protective packaging solution for your particular application, which we can design and manufacture in-house.

Benefits of retention packaging

Retention packaging, also known as Korrvu, is perfect if you send a wide variety of products or components with differing shapes and sizes.

The clear, low-slip film secures the products within the outer cardboard shipping box, preventing damage caused by shock, impact, or mishandling. This prevents costly returns and protects your reputation with your customers.

The film can accommodate a wide range of products, from computer peripherals to vehicle parts, laptops, electronic devices, specialist components, and much more. You can also store retention packaging flat to reduce storage requirements, and assembly is quick and easy, reducing labour costs.

As an eCommerce seller, the film also provides an excellent presentation of the contents upon your customers' opening. Your customers can also simply place the full pack—both insert and outer box—into kerbside recycling bins.

How it works

To use retention packaging:

  1. Lie the retention packaging insert on your packaging bench or work surface.
  2. Lift the transparent film and place the products or items you are shipping underneath.
  3. Fold the flaps on the left and right-hand edges down, creating an arch and pulling the film tight.
  4. Place the folded retention insert into a pre-assembled outer cardboard shipping box.
  5. Seal the box using appropriate tape or closures, and ship.
