Die-cut cardboard inserts for packaging are a great option in several scenarios. These include where your customers or end users would prefer a recyclable solution (e.g., eliminating foam), where product presentation upon opening is important, and applications where you ship large volumes of a single product type.

Designed correctly, die-cut inserts securely hold products in place and prevent any movement or impact within the box. However, for especially fragile or expensive items, the additional cushioning provided by die-cut foam inserts, foam-lined boxes, or foam end caps may be more appropriate.

Die-cut inserts can be either removable or integrated, forming part of the construction of the outer pack. Removable inserts allow a single outer box size to be used across multiple product lines (i.e. with using different inserts), whilst integral inserts help minimise your packaging inventory and can improve protection.
